Hidden away from the main stretch of Chalok Beach, this little section of coastline takes some effort to reach. A hike through the island eventually opens up to a beach with very few people, clear water, scattered rocks, and just enough shade to make you want to stay awhile. I photographed this one from above because the view shows something you don't always notice from the shoreline the way the beach, trees, rocks, and water all fit together. Each section has its own texture and color, but none of them takes over the frame.

For me, that's what makes this place work. It wasn't just about the water or the sand. It was the balance of everything around it. A quiet corner of Koh Tao that felt a little removed from the rest of the island. You had to walk for it, but once you got there, there wasn't much reason to hurry back.
