Purple Tape
This photo was taken on Gili Air after I woke up early and wandered the island with my camera, looking for those little pieces of island life that usually get overlooked. For some reason, I kept finding myself back at this building.
The rain had rolled through the night before, leaving the purple walls rich and saturated. What you see here is exactly how it looked that morning—no added color, no extra edits. Nature handled that part for me.
I never figured out what this place used to be. Maybe it was a coffee shop where people gathered before the island woke up. Maybe it rented longboards, bikes, or something completely different. The unanswered questions became part of what drew me in.
What really caught my attention was the contrast. The weathered wood had seen better days, but the structure itself still stood with quiet confidence. It felt like a place with stories left behind, waiting for someone else to imagine the next chapter.
I still catch myself thinking about it from time to time. If it had been for sale, I probably would have wanted the keys.
Now it's your turn. What do you think this place once was?:
