Koh Nang Yuan
Koh Nang Yuan doesn't allow drones, so I couldn't simply walk onto the island and launch from the beach. Instead, I took off from neighboring Koh Tao and made the flight across the water, keeping my distance and choosing a straight-down perspective that would stay out of sight while still showing the island the way I had imagined it.
What drew me in wasn't just the sandbar connecting the three islands. It was the contrast. Dense tropical forest giving way to smooth granite boulders, then fading into shallow water that shifted from pale turquoise to deep blue with every change in depth. Looking straight down simplified everything into shapes, textures, and color, almost like nature had sketched its own abstract painting.
