Standing at approximately 67 meters (220 feet), this Buddhist statue is hard to miss and even harder to appreciate until you're standing close enough to take in the details.

Seeing this sculpture up close gave me a completely different perspective on its scale. From a distance, it becomes part of the landscape. Standing beneath it, you start to notice the details and the amount of work that went into creating something of this size.

This photograph captures a little of both perspectives—the presence of the statue and the feeling of being there in person.
