I knew I wanted a different perspective of the Petronas Towers before I even arrived in Kuala Lumpur. They're photographed every day from the ground, so I spent more time thinking about where I wanted to photograph them from than simply getting them in the frame. Once I found the right altitude, the composition came together on its own.

To capture this photograph, I flew my drone to nearly 1,600 feet, high enough for the towers to stand against the city instead of being surrounded by it. From that height, Kuala Lumpur seemed to fade into the background, leaving the towers to catch the light on their own.

It's one of those photographs that reminds me why I enjoy aerial photography. Changing your perspective even by a few hundred feet can completely change the way you see a place.
