Taiwan was my first stop when I arrived in Southeast Asia, and thanks to a little jet lag, my introduction started after dark.

While most people were winding down for the night, I was wide awake with a camera in my hand. The weather wasn't exactly cooperating either, with plenty of rain and overcast skies, but whenever things cleared up, I headed outside to see what I could find.

That ended up giving me a different look at Taiwan. Taipei at night had its own energy—illuminated monuments, quiet city squares, traditional architecture, and streets that seemed to change character once the sun went down.

When the weather finally gave me a break, I ventured farther out and started looking for the landscapes that make Taiwan so interesting. Mountains cover much of the island, while the coastline, cities, temples, and smaller neighborhoods each bring something different to the frame.

I wasn't there for long, so this collection isn't meant to tell the whole story of Taiwan. It's a small glimpse of a place I experienced while slightly jet-lagged, chasing photographs between rain showers and discovering what was around the next corner.

Funny enough, being awake at the wrong time turned out to be a pretty good way to start the journey.
